Emma & Ethan: A Classic, Antique-Inspired Day with A Disco Twist

Photography by Perennial Feels

Emma & Ethan had a picturesque day at one of our favorite venues ever - Glen Foerd. The venue itself provides a mix of aesthetics and vibes - it’s technically in the city but makes you feel like you are on a lake in New England, it is home to the historic, ornate mansion while also housing a pavilion that is just begging for an epic dance party. Emma & Ethan’s day also had awesome juxtapositions - think antique accents, hand drawn papery and signage, plus a giant, spinning disco ball and a groovy sax player.

Every part of Emma & Ethan’s day passed the vibe-check, even the getting ready position. E&E got ready at the Lokal Old City, a boutique hotel in the heart of Philly that somehow perfectly matched their wedding aesthetic. Haley of Perennial Feels Photography was there to not only capture the day beautifully, but to give the most thoughtful, original, and fun photo prompts to the couple.

For florals, we went with muted earth tones with a whimsical twist. Caroline Florals knocked it out of the park with bringing the vision to life. We partnered with Lilac & Lace for vintage furniture and tablescape rentals. Of course, the “wow” piece was the giant disco ball, provided by Shipley, that covered the whole reception space in twinkling lights.

One of the most notable parts of this wedding? Emma’s bridal look. Emma & Ethan did a first look, so he saw her main dress before she walked down the aisle. However, Emma kept the iconic cape (from Kinfolk Bride) a secret. Before the ceremony, when her and Ethan were separated, Emma changed into her cape and debuted a new look that totally surprised Ethan when she came down the aisle. The plan was to take the cape off after the ceremony, but Emmma decided to keep it on throughout the reception. Can you blame her? That cape under that disco ball was *chef’s kiss*.

E&E danced the night away with music from Gemma of Luv’d Up DJs, accompanied by Nils at Sax On It, who played along to the tracks. Taylor Swift with live sax over it? Sign us up.

This was one of our favorite days ever and we are so grateful to the invisible string that connected us to Emma and Ethan.
