Katie & Tyler - Starry Skies, Starry Eyes, and Star Wars
Photography done by: Tori Sokalski
Pairing up with Katie & Tyler for their wedding was was *ahem* written in the stars. Katie came to us with a vision of a celestial celebration and with a name like Sunbursts & Stardust, you could say we were beyond excited.
Katie came across this styled shoot that we did a few years ago and immediately knew these were the vibes she wanted to bring to her and Tyler’s wedding. Naturally, she hired the amazing photographer from the shoot, Tori Sokalski. Tori specializes in retro, nostalgic film and digital photography, which was perfect for the aesthetics of this day. Another thing Katie fell in love with from the shoot was the ceremony backdrop. We had that custom-made by our friends at Creamery Hill for the shoot, so we arranged for that exact Bespoke piece to serve as Katie and Tyler’s sweetheart table backdrop.
Of course, one of the main *stars* of the day was the paper lantern installation in the main dining space. Creamery Hill worked their magic and brought Katie’s magic celestial vision to life, creating a dreamy ceiling full of varied iridescent star lanterns. They even twinkled to add an especially ethereal effect.
We also brought color to the tablescape with Creamery Hill’s mismatched colored water goblets and candles. Florals provided by Kati Mac added even more hues to the dining room. Of course, the tables were accented with moon-shaped table numbers.
To top it all off, Katie and Tyler’s day took place at one of our favorite venues - Terrain at Styers. The iconic Mushroom House, a plant wall, the bespoke ceremony pergola, an indoor green house area, and a dance floor backdropped by a wall of romantic lights? It couldn’t get more perfect.
Katie & Tyler made sure their personalities were heavily incorporated into the day. Katie took their love of theater and made the ceremony programs as custom Playbills. As music lovers, they had Tyler’s guitar as a “guest book” for guests to sign. No Macarena spun pop punk tracks for the dance floor, reflecting the couple’s love of Emo Night. Of course, the most prevalent personalized touches were the nods to Star Wars. Tyler and his groomsmen each had move-quality Star Wars helmets and actual, working light sabers. Later in the night, Katie & Tyler posed with the light sabers for a photo op, which turned into guests having light saber duels under the summer stars.
