Clare & Scott’s Swanky, Sophisticated, Instantly Iconic Celebration

Photography: Shots By Sam

To know Clare and Scott is to love them. To be their wedding planner? Even better.

We were so honored to help this amazing couple bring their vision to life. Clare came to us wanting a chic, swanky, sophisticated celebration that showcased who she and Scott are as a couple. What resulted was the party of the year filled with love, laugh, dancing, splits, and thoughtful personalized touches.

We took the blank canvas of the sailcloth tent (provided by Sperry Tents) at Spring Lake Golf Club and transformed it into a dreamy, candle-lit dreamscape. Of course, we enlisted our friends at Citrine to bring our black-and-white tablescape fantasies for life. We brought in glass black-rimmed chargers, smoky drinkware, and black flatware to create intentional placesettings.

Speaking of intentional, Clare & Scott went above and beyond to make their guests feel welcomed and appreciated. The couple wrote every single one of their 200+ guests a personalized note, thanking them for being there and stating what each guest means to them, including inside jokes and heartfelt memories. Sarah at Slate & Brush designed and printed said notes, which were placed at each guests’ seat.

The intentionality didn’t stop there. Clare & Scott had various inside jokes with different groups of their friends and families printed on the cocktail napkins, as a fun little surprise for guests when they went to the bar. Of course, Slate & Brush created a custom logo that we used for branding throughout the details of this event. The branding was not only on the napkins and personalized guest notes, but also fun little give-aways like custom matchbooks, drink stirrers, and reusable drink cups at the bar.

The highlight of the night? The t-shirt toss. Yes, you read that correctly. We had Slate & Brush design custom t-shirts that included the couple’s logo and lyrics from their first dance song, Come And Get Your Love. We subtly brought out the t-shirts and hid them behind the band’s speakers until it was time for the toss. Then, when the party was really going (which was immediate thanks to London West, their epic band) Clare & Scott got on the stage and did a good old-fashioned t-shirt toss into the crowd. The guests went wild trying to get the shirts - with two different color and sleeve-length variations) and those that were lucky enough to get one put them on over their wedding outfits and wore them the rest of the night.

Just when you thought the epicness couldn’t be topped, Clare whipped out her signature move - a full split in the middle of the dance floor. Yes, in that gorgeous Danny Tabet gown. To say this day and party was iconic is an understatement and we are so grateful to have been a part of it.
