Mariel & Nick’s Lush, Whimsical, Garden Party in the City

Of course every wedding that Sunbursts & Stardust does is special and means a lot to us, but Mariel & Nick’s was especially dear to us. Mariel and Brooke, S&S’s owner, are best friends and were roommates at Penn State. (Brooke used to get mad at Mariel’s alarm blaring every morning, not because she’s not a morning person, but because the sound was “Ring the Alarm by Beyonce” blasting at 7am.) So, when Mariel came to us for help with her wedding, we couldn’t be more excited.

Mariel & Nick wanted a sophisticated, elegant, garden party vibe and we are so proud of the outcome.

After a church ceremony in Old City, guests headed to an outdoor cocktail-style reception at The Hill-Physick House. The historic home in the heart of Old City Philadelphia features a hidden-garden-oasis, right there in the city. Guests dined alfresco, with delicious food stations from JAM Hospitality Group, under bistro lights that lit up the perfect fall night.

Since this was a cocktail-style meal with no formal seating, we called up our friends at Lilac & Lace to provide chic furniture lounges in the couple’s jewel-toned color scheme. Not only did they look stunning in the garden, guests used the lounges all night to eat, drink, and be merry.

This wedding cannot be talked about without talking about the florals. Besides the bride, they were the star of the show. Misha from Woodland Floral Design Co. completely transformed the existing outdoor space into a magical, enchanted garden. We saturated the fenced entryway with florals, to give guests a real “wow” moment when they entered (plus an amazing photo op.) We took the sweetheart table (rented of course from Lilac & Lace) and covered that in a lush, cascading arrangement, while also decking out the fence behind the sweetheart table to make it a whole moment. Mariel’s bouquet was a stunner - the whimsical shape and stunning jewel tones looked unbelievable in front of her Badgley Mishka gown from MariMi Bridal.

Guests danced under the lights and the stars, thanks to music provided by Stylus DJs. The night ended with an impromptu karaoke performance by the bride (in her super cute short reception dress) and got the whole crowd hyped up and ready for the after party.
